If you’re a pet owner, your heart probably melts when your puppy is playing with dog toys! Sometimes, you may also give him/her some treats for behaving well. However, most people don’t know which treats are better for their furry friend’s health.

It’s not just dog toys; you must think thoroughly about how and when they will be used before buying any kinds of dog products. It should be a part of your dog care routine. The reason is that some dog products may include a tiny amount of something that you don’t want your dog to eat.

In this blog post, I’ve compiled some safety precautions that you should bear in mind before purchasing any new toy for your pet!

#1 Look For Toys That Can’t Be Broken (Easily!)

Dog toys made of durable nylon or hard rubber are the finest. Keep an eye on the corners, as they can be very rough. Be sure there aren’t any big chunks missing. Soft plastic toys should also be avoided.

#2 Watch Out For Rope Toys

Watch out for rope toys made of rough rubber or nylon and bound by a thick cord. They’re actually not that bad, to be honest. But keep an eye on the rope to make sure it doesn’t fall apart.

#3 Avoid Toys With Bells

Toys with bells on the inside or outside are not recommended for dogs. Because your dog can rip the bells off or swallow them.

#4 Have An Eye Out For Rips & Tears

Well-made toys, with a plush and thick cloth, should be purchased only. However, once they snap or tear at a seam, it’s time to toss them out and replace them with newer and improved models.

#5 Choose The Appropriate Toy Size

Dog owners often purchase toys that are either too huge for a small dog or too short for a large dog. In any case, you would stop buying a toy that is too small for your puppy. Purchase items that are the appropriate size for your dog to avoid defeating the intent of the product.

#6 Look for Toys That Aren’t Choke-able

Choke-able? Is that really a word? I don’t know! Buy toys that don’t fit entirely in their mouths because bigger usually is safer. Your dog can be able to tear off bits of a toy if they have a strong jaw. And if they swallow these, the blockage can remain in their digestive system.

#7 Look For Toys That Are Healthy Orally

Although certain toys have dental advantages, you should also be aware of the possibility of teeth loss. Hard dolls, nylon bones, and a wide variety of synthetic toys may cause harm to their teeth, gums, and tongue.

#8 Buy Them Clean Toys

Germs abound in dog toys very fast. Some of the toys are taken outdoors to the yard, where they interact with other puppies. Bacteria will quickly spread around your home as you play with those toys. Look for dog toys that are easy to clean.
